Family owned minerals
Family Owned in Texas for Four Generations
Eddie Lee Powell was the first-generation to purchase mineral interest in South Texas in the 1930s. At the time of his death in 1976, he had purchased 4,400 net mineral acres in Texas. The majority of his mineral acreage is located in Live Oak County, which is known today as the Eagle Ford shale play. After his death, his estate passed in equal shares to the second generation- his two daughters.
In 2007, Eddie’s daughters signed their first lease with Texas Crude. In 2012, the family’s second and third generations created an LTD for the mineral holdings. The new LTD company was branded as ELP2 Minerals; named after the initials of Eddie Lee Powell. There are currently four generations involved in the line of mineral ownership succession, with Eddie Lee as the first generation.
Today, ELP2 Minerals is still owned in equal partnership by the second-generation, Eddie Lee’s two daughters. We have leases with Conoco-Phillips, Marathon Oil and six other top oil and gas producers. Our continued growth has put ELP2 Minerals on a trajectory for future expansion in the oil and gas industry.
